How Does it Fill Floorboard Gaps?

DraughtEx floorboard gap filler has been cleverly manufactured with thousands of tiny, concealed air pockets which allow it to be compressed by almost 90% of its original profile.

These flexible properties allow DraughtEx to be easily fitted into floorboard gaps much smaller than its original width by stretching and compressing it during the installation process. Once the floorboard filler has been inserted into the gap it will expand until it fills the entire width of the gap.

Timber floors naturally contract and expand throughout the course of their life because of changes in temperature and humidity. These movements create varying gap widths which can cause alternative floorboard sealants such as papier-mache, wood filler and silicon to become ineffective and loose and eventually drop out. DraughtEx is designed to expand and contract with the movement pattern of the timber and will therefore remain in place, retaining the insulation and preventing cold draughts.

Due to the nature of wooden floors and the way in which they are laid, the gaps between each floorboard often vary in size. To ensure that all gap widths can be effectively filled we offer DraughtEx in 3 different sizes. This diagram will help you decide which size is best for your project.

• DraughtEx Thin

  DraughtEx Thin has a profile of 4mm and is suitable for floorboard gaps less than 3mm in width - read more about DraughtEx Thin.

Natural "Shadow" Appearance

The design of DraughtEx follows extensive research and testing which has been carried out to ensure that the product is not only efficient but also aesthetically pleasing when installed into the floorboard gaps.

The colour "Shadow" has been carefully developed to allow floorboard gaps to be sealed without compromising their natural appearance. It has been designed to mimic the natural shadows created between floorboards to allow you to discretely fill floorboard gaps.

How to Fill Skirting Board Gaps

DraughtEx can also be used to seal the gaps between the skirting board and the floor. The size of these gaps generally vary and traditional filling methods are usually time consuming, messy to install and will often fall out over time.
